The solution for almost every material
A precise, gentle and sustainable manufacturing process for your workpieces.
The StM water jet cutting system is designed for operation with pure water and abrasive cutting. With water jet cutting, water is pressed through a nozzle at a pressure of up to 6,000 bar, from which a concentrated water jet emerges at 2 to 3 times the speed of sound (Mach). To increase the kinetic energy is used for
Cutting harder materials Abrasive (garnet sand) added.
Waterjet cutting systems cut almost all solid materials. The bandwidth ranges from metals, stone, tiles, glass and wood to foams, rubber, plastic and food. Depending on the requirements, StM water jet cutting systems can be equipped with either a pure water or abrasive cutting head.
Waterjet cutting is used when the materials to be processed are temperature-sensitive. Due to the fine jet, very filigree and complex contours can be cut. The cut can start anywhere on the workpiece and does not necessarily have to start at the edge of sheet metal or foil. Materials that have a light-reflecting surface are difficult to process with lasers; with water jets, on the other hand, they do not cause any problems.
Carbon or glass fiber reinforced plastics can be processed particularly well with waterjet cutting, compared to cutting processes that lead to the destruction of the materials. In contrast to fixed tools, the water jet cannot jam. Due to the low processing temperatures, no toxic fumes are produced when processing plastics.
